Stepford Wives

This weekend my BFF and I were having a girls day and we became inspired to do a fun photo shoot. We decided to go for a Stepford Wife makeup look and we took lots of pictures around the house. The makeup is basically a flawless plastic-like face with glowing skin and rosy lips.I achieved the look with  my airbrush machine (that's what they used for the movie.) I applied the foundation, highlighter, lip stain, and blush with the airbrush. I used Benefit Eye Bright to brighten up the eyes and individual lashes to create the doll eyes. Enjoy :)
Peep the original Stepford Wife:

PS. She's not really the original, but she's the one I like :)

A good Stepford Wife happily.....

throws out the garbage and keeps her house clean...

can handle the grill...

always makes sure her lawn is perfectly manicured...

and of course, she  always looks flawless as she waits for her husband to come home.

I hope you have as much fun looking at these pictures as we did taking them. :)

Lash Extensions

Lash extensions are false lashes that are applied one by one to the eye. When done correctly and with the right (permanent) glue, they can last anywhere from a few days to even a few weeks, depending on how you take care of them. I dont recommend you try this at home because the professional glue is hard to use and very irritating to the eye. Go to a licensed makeup artist or skin care specialist if you want lash extensions because we have been properly trained.Beware of some salons that use hair extension glue to apply the individual lashes promising they will last for a long time, this is really dangerous and can even cause you to loose your natural lashes and you can get eye infections (yuck.) Scroll down for pictures and more information.

Before

During the application:
The glue is still wet.

After

There is an enormous difference between regular false strip lashes and the individual lashes. The lash extensions are applied on the lash line between each of your lashes so the results are much more natural. For the after pictures I did not even apply eyeliner to the lash line or any mascara so that you can see how flawless the results were.
Getting lash extensions is a great idea if you are going on a trip, a weekend long event or any special occasion and you want to look effortlessly beautiful.

If you are interested in having fabulous lashes, then shoot me an email at makeupbyjaday@gmail.com and I will send you my pricing and give you an appointment.

Flower Power- Fun with Colors

Spring is in the air! This is one of my favorite seasons for makeup and clothes. I love experimenting with color and what better way to do this than with makeup? Here is a look that I wore this weekend. I was wearing my favorite flower ring, and I decided to use it as inspiration for my makeup.

The look

I want all of you to try and have some fun with color this week. Whether you wear a fun lipstick color (like coral) or a bright eyeshadow, I want you to have fun with it. Remember that makeup is supposed to be FUN and an expression of yourself. I guess I have been feeling happy and colorful lately.

Guest look #2

Blog reader Eleni tried another one of the looks featured in the blog. This time she went for the "Earth Tones with a twist" look. She said she loved the look so much that she tried it the very next day. She wore it to her Belly Dance class and received lots of compliments. I think she did a great job!

Remember you too can try to replicate any of the makeup looks and send me the pictures so that I will feature you on the blog.

I've got the Blues :)

Royal blue is such a fun color to wear! Blue brightens the whites of your eyes and distracts from any redness you might have on your face. Scroll down to view the products I used so that you can recreate this look.

Mini Review:
I have to say I was a bit skeptical before purchasing this palette, because I don't usually like celebrity endorsed products, but the quality of the eyeshadow is superb. The shadows are highly pigmented and they are a bit creamy so they go on really smoothly. I like them better than the Urban Decay eyeshadow. Highly recommend it!

Earth Tones with a Twist

This is a casual look that was taken up a notch by adding glitter to the lower lash line. I guess I have a glitter liner obsession at the moment. Glitter is just so much fun!

I applied earth tone eye shadows -golds, browns, bronzes, and beige- creating a warm natural eye, then I added the glitter liner under the lash line creating a fun and flirty look. The rest of the face was kept natural and bronzed to go with the look.I think this is a great look to wear as the weather gets warmer.
