MY FAVORITE PINK LIP COMBO IS A MAC CANDY YUM YUM DUPE!!!

Hey Blossoms,

You all know I love color and lipstick is definitely included. I have so many favorite lip combos and found out today one of my favorite pink lip combos is a dead ringer for a MAC Quite Cute lipstick that is sold out everywhere... CANDY YUM YUM.

I went into MAC today and while being complimented on my makeup by a MAC MUA another MAC  MUA said "Your wearing Candy Yum Yum!". I was surprised because I wasn't but she seemed so sure of it. I have never swatched the actual MAC Candy Yum Yum so I had no idea before today what it would have looked like against my skin. Funny because a few weeks ago I commented on a "Are you going to buy MAC Candy Yum Yum?" post with a statement that basically said "It's a pretty color but I'm sure I could mix a few things and dupe it". I never got around to doing so. WHO KNEW?! it would be a combo I've already been wearing for so long!

As you can see from the link I've included showing what MAC Candy Yum Yum is going for online, people are dying to get there hands on one and internet sellers are profiting. This lipstick retails for $14.50 and is being sold new for $52.99 online!!!!! INSANE

I'm here to save you money and time. As a makeup artist I find extreme comfort in being able to mix and match colors, test different combinations to create a "must have" color. This dupe was found by sheer accident as I've been wearing it for quite some time long before MAC even advertised their Quite Cute collection. I know you are all dying to hear what it is!

Without further hesitation here is all you need to create an exact dupe of MAC's CANDY YUM YUM

WHAT I USED:

Jessie's Girl Fuschia lipliner( outline lips and fill in bottom lip halfway)
MAC Lip Conditioner (upper and lower lip then blot)
CoverGirl Queen Spellbound Lipstick( 2 layers upper and lower lip)

NYX Africa Lip Gloss( 1 layer along bottom and blot with lips)
INGLOT AMC Lipgloss (just at the center of upper and lower lip)
Reline with L/L

Here's what it looks like:

Hope you like!!

Do you have or know of any other dupes for MAC Candy Yum Yum? Have you ever accidentally duped something? Let me know...

MAC PRO LONG WEAR FOUNDATION NW45 & WHY ITS NOT FOR ME!!

a

Hey Blossoms,

I know many of you are familiar with MAC. Some of you even use their products exclusively siteing MAC as your HOLY GRAIL of all thing cosmetics. While I agree many of their products rock there is ONE product in particular I've had a recent run in with that DOES NOT ROCK not one iota!!!

This product is their MAC Pro Longwear SPF 10 Foundation in NW45. Pictured here is color NC20.

MAC Pro Longwear SPF10 Foundation NC20

I just could not make this color(NW45 not the color shown above) work for me. Granted I only wore it all of 12 hours it just did NOT work for me as far as color matching. The undertone was way to red and I looked like a matte tomato topped with orange sauce(after the foundation oxidized). Now it IS LONG LASTING...I was slightly shiny after 12 hours of wear and only blotted 3 times during. The matte finish remained the entire way through but I felt the matte look was way to unnatural. It would have been best to wear it along my t-zone, wearing it all over the face just made me look as if I were wearing a mask.

As a woman of color I already have a difficult time finding foundations that match my sin tone. Like many woman of color, I am lighter at the center of my face and darker along the perimeter so sometimes (ok ALWAYS) it's necessary for me to mix at least 2 different foundation colors.
I steer clear of all of MACs other foundations due to reviews of the oily, greasy mess it leaves you with. I've tried them numerous times and I always end up regretting I ever did. Now please don't misunderstand me! MAC is a GREAT company and they offer some fabulous products. I'm STILL a proud Pro Card carrying member and I love their eyeshadows, paint pots, fluidlines and fix + spray!!! That's just to name a few. Unfortunately, their foundations NEVER work for me.

I make it a habit to try everything on myself first and depending on my experience will determine if it makes the grade and graduates to my kit. Its really hard to dislike a product, have a bad experience with it (continuously) and STILL decide to add it to your kit. It almost NEVER happens! MAC Pro Long wear foundation was no exception! I do LOVE MAC Pro longwear concealers! A review on those will be coming up soon.

Check out the video above for a more in depth review and to see this foundation on my skin!!!

CELEBRITY INSPIRED MAKEUP MAKEOVER!

Hey Blossoms,

I'm back with another Sherry Blossom MUMO: MakeUp Makeover! This look was inspired by Kandi Burruss.

Kandi Burruss is a R&B singer, songwriter and record producer. She is best remembered for being a former member of Xscape. After Xscape disbanded, Burruss went on to help produce and write hits like TLC's "No Scrubs", and Destiny's Child "Bills,Bills,Bills" and "Bug A Boo" and even Pink's debut single "There You Go". Burruss was the first African-American woman to win ASCAP's Songwriter of the Year Award (2000). Most recently, she is best known for her debut in the second season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

A childhood friend of mine flipped through a hair magazine and decided she wanted to go with a makeup look that was worn by Kandi Burress.

In the photo Kandi made great use of purple, lavender and pink. I thought the look was fun and definitely doable so we began.

I did not get a chance to snap a before photo(sorry blossoms I will try harder to remember sometimes you just get caught up in the excitement of a makeover!)

So on my childhood friend, I used a stick foundation, filled in and shaped her brows(she didn't get a chance to get them shaped no worries I made the brows up to look as if she had just came from the eyebrow salon), I used MAC's stars and rockets eyeshadow(lavender color with a iridescent purple glow) on her entire eyelid and stopped just below her crease and blended the color out for a softer look.I also used MAC's star violet(purple color with lighter lavender flecks) along her lower lash line to complete the eyeshadow look and make the eyes POP with color even more, black mascara to upper and lower lashes to open up her eyes more by defining her lashes and lash line, blush and a berry and pink colored lipstick and clear lipgloss went on to finish the look! See the results! She looked gorgeous, Kandi Burruss inspired but still unique to her face and skin tone!

This look was definitely fun to recreate and my friend had fun as well. She's a wonderful girl! Always on the go, a young woman with a degree in Journalism, she is a managing editor and writer for www.africastyledaily.com. As usual, a happy client and my work is done(until next time!) Stay tuned for more Sherry Blossom MakeUp MakeOvers(MUMOs)!!!! Later Blossoms!
