My Favorite Makeup Artists

A list of the makeup artists that have inspired me to do what I do. They are great at what they do and each have different techniques that work to create amazing results.

The first Makeup Artist that I read and studied and LOVED was the one and Only Kevyn Aucoin. My first  Makeup book was his Making Faces, a must have for any makeup fanatic. I got the book when I was around 13 and I still try to read it and look through it every year. His book is not only a book that teaches about makeup, but it also has touching stories and life lessons within it's pages. Sadly, he passed away years ago, but his legacy continues with his books and his luxury makeup line.

Kevin James Bennet
He is the Emmy award winning chief Makeup Artist for Make Up For Ever. I have been fortunate to meet him and to have taken classes and seminars by him. He is such a fun, charismatic and talented person! He has worked on TV and Film for many years, but remains very humble.

Ever Pearl

Eve Pearl is also an Emmy award winning makeup artist for TV and film. You may have seen her on The Today Show or on The View. She has her own line of CosmoNutrients which is makeup fused with nutrients. Her Salmon concealer and her HD foundations are a staple in both my personal and professional makeup kit. I have been trained on the Eve Pearl method. Eve is a sweet and caring person who loves to share her knowledge with other makeup artists. I have also taken classes and seminars taught by her.

Dominic Cruz

Dominic is the Education Director and Trainer for Kryolan Professional Makeup. He is amazing at theater makeup and even worked as Lead Makeup Artist for the Miss Universe Pageant. I have been fortunate to attend some of his seminars, and have fallen in love with his awesome techniques using the Aqua Colors.

Koren Zander

You  probably recognize him from his Youtube channel  EnKoreMakeup where he does awesome makeup tutorials. Before I even became a professional makeup artist, I would watch his videos and I have to say I learned a lot. I got to meet him at The Artist Summit in Miami and he was a sweetheart. When I told him I learned how to make Mixing Medium from his Youtube video, he blushed and was very flattered ;)

Message to my readers

Hello Makeup Friends,

I know things have been slow around here lately, but being that I am almost 8 months pregnant I have been super busy with baby related stuff.
I see that a lot of you have been keeping busy going through my previous looks, and I know there is plenty there for you to try at home.
Nonetheless, I have some great ideas floating around my head.
Stay tuned for an inspiring photo shoot coming up soon. ( The theme is top secret so you will have to check back to find out.) I will also be doing a whole series of wearable fall looks with instructions for you to try at home.

As always, stay pretty and have fun with your makeup. :)

XOXO,
Jaday

Colorful Arabic Makeup

Time for another Arabic Makeup shoot!
This time I created this Domari Gypsy Belly Dancer inspired look as requested by a blog reader.I used Naked pigments in many different vibrant colors to create this fun look. I used my homemade Mixing Medium to blend the pigments in order to make the color pop even more.

Blue Again?

I guess it's no secret by now that I love blue. What can I say? I have a soft spot for blue eyeshadows. Here we have a blue smokey eye. Remember to keep the rest of your makeup light and natural when wearing blue so that you don't end up looking like you time traveled from the 80s. :)

Kim K. Inspired Look

Here is the look inspired by Kim Kardashian. The original looks is white with some grays and black. Keep reading for pictures and instructions on how to apply your blush like Kim.

See more on this post by clicking "Read More" below!

As you can see I decided to make it more wearable for daytime. Did I mention that I look nothing like Kim and that I cannot pull of her "sexy face?" I just can't go there! However, that does not mean I can't have fun copying her makeup :)

Click for instructions on Kim K. cheeks.

Here is how you can get Kim Kardashian inspired cheekbones. Having her bone structure sure helps, but for those of us who don't, we can do the following.

1. Apply a mat Bronzer on the hollows of your cheeks. (This is the area right under your cheek bones.)
2. Now apply your blush diagonally right along your cheekbones avoiding the apples of your cheeks (where you would  normally apply blush.)
3. Now grab a highlighter, you can also use a light shimmery eyeshadow, and apply it on your temples all the way to the apples of your cheeks.
4. Blend it all together and you are done.

This is the best picture I could find in my camera of the blush. The flash in my camera washed out a lot of the color, but you can kind of get the idea:

Have fun creating your own version of this or any other Kim Kardashian look.

Jaday :)
